House in Tsavkisi

A private residence in Tsavkisi is set into a gently sloping site, framed by surrounding green hills as its natural backdrop. The house is conceived as a quiet, earth-sheltered structure that responds directly to the topography of the land. The building's defining feature is a curved concrete wall that sweeps across the upper facade—its layered, textured surface punctuated by circular openings of varying scales.

These circular cutouts frame light and views into the interior spaces while giving the elevation a distinctive sculptural identity above the linear, glazed lower volume.

The roof is planted with grass, seamlessly integrating the building into the hillside and minimizing its visual scale. From higher elevation points, the green roof acts as a natural extension of the landscape, concealing the home's footprint from view. At ground level, full-height glazing and slim timber-framed sliding doors connect the primary living areas directly to the lawn and terrace.

Beneath a broad concrete overhang, a semi-outdoor lounge centers around a cylindrical fireplace with a tall metallic chimney flue, creating a sheltered gathering nook adjacent to a secluded inner lawn.

Inside, raw concrete surfaces are complemented by rich timber wall panels, bringing warmth and balance to the architecture. The spatial layout flows smoothly from private, sheltered zones toward the outdoors, where a green lawn and swimming pool extend the home’s living space into the landscape.

This transition reinforces a continuous dialogue between the raw materiality of the architecture and the softness of the surrounding natural environment.
